Stefan Gahr, Metal Artist

Stefan Gahr (1975) has been part of GAHR since 1999.

Stefan has practiced letting go as an artistic method for over 30 years. His works are protocols of a process: not the image of a vision, but of the rules that generate it.

He enriches Robert’s bold lines with intricate structures and a philosophical dimension.

As a member of the studio’s second generation, he carries the family tradition forward while staying open to new ideas.

"I let myself drift;
without resistance!
And the gods smile."

(S.G. 1998)

Robert Gahr, Metal Artist

Robert Gahr (1978) has been working at GAHR since 1994.

He first picked up a welding torch at the age of four — the desire to become a metal artist emerged early.

His approach:
To create energetic compositions in harmonious balance. Honesty, material expertise, and a tireless search for artistic expression form the foundation of his work.

Together with Stefan, he leads the studio into an open future, carrying Herbert’s vision forward and transforming it into contemporary, spatially resonant works.

Herbert Gahr, metal artist

Herbert Gahr (1951–2014) was a visionary and the founder of Art Studio GAHR.

After earning master certifications in mechanical engineering and welding technology, he made a radical decision in 1980: he chose art — a deliberate break that shaped everything that followed.

The BREAK became his central motif: as line, as gesture, as energy. Whether shattered glass, the intrusion of a sphere, or the rupture of lead — he sought the tension where material and idea collide.

Nature was his teacher. From vegetative lines — seemingly accidental yet full of inner logic — he developed a visual language beyond industrial straightness.

He proudly embraced the new techniques introduced by his sons Robert and Stefan, merging them with his own powerful style.
